Color Crazy

Being an indecisive person makes the freedom I am given for this project 1000% more difficult. I just want to get my ideas out there so I can start narrowing things down and make decisions. Maybe this will be therapeutic?

Colors are important and the fate of my magazine depends on my chosen colors doing their psychological duties. I want my magazine to make someone feel motivated and happy. I want a "cloudless sky with no humidity" kind of feeling.. you know what I'm talking about.

My target audience is women in their early 20s. It's around that time where people begin to get serious about getting their life together. I want to inspire and support women that want to be happy with themselves without being limited to materialistic things. I want to educate those on how to make this transition in a realistic way. It's a lifestyle, not a phase or a diet. My magazine is going to leave readers with answers to questions they didn't even know that they had.

I have not decided on a title or a cover photo, but that's okay because when I do it will be awesome. I do know that I want the background of my cover page to be white with a border made up of green, yellow, and blue. I want the border to have a floral design to show the nature and femininity. I want the magazine to be useful decoration.

Colors are intriguing and definitely play a huge role in the decision people make when deciding which magazine they want to look at and purchase. I chose each color for a specific reason. The blue is calming and is supposed to make one feel secure and dependable. My magazine is going to make you dependent on yourself and feel secure in your decisions. Green is associated with organics and nature. It symbolizes serenity and health. Yellow is a happy color which is what a reader is going to feel after reading my magazine. Yellow symbolizes positivity, motivation, and creativity. That is the exact goal of my magazine.

Welcome To My Blog

I am starting my media studies project and I have never been so excited to do a project for school. I am almost always very scared and intimidated to go outside of my comfort zone in any situation, but this project might be an exception. I have a habit of coming up with creative ideas, but never bringing them to life because I either a) don't know how or b) I don't care enough to do it. It's time to get serious not only because my grade depends on this, but because I love social media, writing, and photography. I think this project gives me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone to produce a combination of all the things that I enjoy.

I have been researching on Pinterest and various online magazine publications. My dream magazine would be a bigger version of an Instagram account. Instagram put an image to the ideas of user's "life goals" and "body goals." It is frustrating to see certain lifestyles and not know how to achieve that for yourself. Instagram limits these explanations. My magazine is going to include these captivating images and personal commentaries, but take it to the next level by providing facts, references, and ways to improve your life.

My focus is to transition my audience into an organic lifestyle. This includes fitness, food, and mindsets. The overall goal of the magazine is to make this switch fun, motivating, and exciting. It's hard to change your life and this magazine will be a support system for readers. I want my layout and design to reflect and portray the lifestyle. I want the design to give off good vibes and positive energy. Natural and organic themes are always bubbly and have a homemade look which is what I am going for. The design should give the readers that motivational "I can do this" feeling.

Rookie Magazine, although this magazine is not about organic lifestyles, food, or nature, it has been an inspiration for the direction I am taking for my design. I love that the image is behind the text. This makes it artsy and professional all at the same time. The handwritten font also makes it personal. This makes the reader feel connected and makes them feel like what is published is meant just for them. The homemade look makes it more comforting and I think that is highly appropriate for my topic. My magazine is all about feeling good about yourself and what you do in your every day life. The little things can mean so much which is why I want to make the little things stand out in my magazine.
