There's No Break On Spring Break

It's time to get serious! I can picture my magazine in my mind (it's awesome), but I have yet to start putting it together. Every day is a battle between myself and the computer. I have been trying to learn Photoshop and InDesign. I feel like I'm an uneducated, fresh out of high school doctor operating on a patient. I think that is the only thing stopping me from progressing.

Next week begins spring break aka endless adventures. I am going to explore the hidden nature and  organic treasures around Florida. I am going to have my camera ready and my magazine on my mind. This is going to require a lot self discipline. It's going to be challenging to not eat because my food is too pretty and to chase sunrises and sunsets.  I have always wanted to find recipes and ACTUALLY do them. I've always wanted to do all of this research on food, beauty products, and fitness and now I actually have a reason to do it (not that doing it for myself isn't good enough).

I just needed to get my ideas out there and the real test is to see whether or not I can accomplish these goals. I need photographs, content, and a lot of tutorials, so I can be prepared for this operation.

Gogo Boho!

I have picked a theme for my magazine. Artsy is too broad and general and no one really understands it until they see it, so I narrowed it down to a boho style. This brings out the nature look. It incorporates bright, natural colors with a vintage touch.

I was thinking for the cover I would have a border of flowers in natural tone colors (green, blue, purple). I would have a girl in nature dressed in a boho style. It's a natural hippie type of look. I guess it's really hard to explain, but I am trying my best. I want it to show the natural beauty of women in nature. I want her smiling genuinely into your soul. Too creepy or not creepy enough? I just want her to show that the reader of my magazine can be just like her.

I was also thinking for the table of contents I would take some pictures and put them in polaroids in a strategic collage throughout the page. This will give it that vintage touch. I still have to take the pictures, and that means I have to cook some organic food and go enjoy the beautiful outdoors. I can't wait!

Using My Human Capabilities

I think I deserve an A for being the worst student ever. It's so hard to come up with out of the box ideas, but it's worth it. I have thought long and hard about my title for my magazine and came up with Humanism.

Humanism is a "philosophy. A variety of ethical theory and practice that emphasizes reason, scientific inquiry, and human fulfillment in the natural world and often rejects the importance of belief in God." That is according to dictionary.com. According to me, humanism is what you are capable of doing and achieving because you are human. This is what my magazine stands for. You can change your life because you have that ability to. It's you against yourself and the world (and a bunch of life events that you will learn how to deal with through guidance from my magazine).

I am just so passionate about this project. Although it hasn't been reflecting in my blog posts I am constantly thinking about the strategies and creativity I could use to bring this magazine to life and make it successful. I love social media, photography, and writing. This project forces me to use all of them and I am so excited.
