Letting Nature Do Its Thing

I have made some excellent progress. I have chosen my.....cover photo! I originally planned on having a girl looking into the camera, but I decided that I didn't want my magazine to be a cliche.

I chose to have the hands reaching up towards the headline (will insert later) to attract the reader to the name. The name of my magazine, Humanism, is supposed to tell you all that I am going to include before you even begin reading.

I already broke a rule (or I guess a tip) from magazinedesigning.com, but I think the pose that I chose fits perfectly with the style I am going for.

The background shows the nature theme that I am incorporating throughout the entire magazine. The clothing also matches that boho style that I am going for.

I am super satisfied with the way this picture turned out. It's relaxed, not too in your face, and naturally represents my magazine perfectly.

To Do's

I've been researching my content and I think it's time to take more pictures! While it is important to have quality material, it is also important for the appearance to be quality.  I am unsure of what I want to focus on for my two page spread. This is what is going to show what my magazine is really about. It's the only part of the assignment I get to go in depth with my topic. Do I focus on the food, beauty, or fitness, or everything, or maybe even nothing at all (hehe just kidding)?

I also want to start coming up with the story ideas and titles for my table of contents and the pictures that go with them. This should include everything I am not including in the two page spread, but want my readers to know what else I intend to offer in my completed magazine.

I am going to do a lot of outdoor activities this weekend (praying that the weather is nice this weekend and am hoping that I didn't just jinx it) and will be ready to take pictures of awesome food and awesome nature scenes.

Do sweat it!

For the beauty portion of my magazine (Humanism) I am going to include natural ways to clear your skin while clearing your mind. This is a win win here and the even bigger win (as if it could get any better) is that you are spending zero dollars and are saving your skin from unnecessary chemicals and harsh products.

I did not do any research prior to unintentionally testing the theory that sweating helps clear your face. I have been on a healthy organic kick and that means going to the gym make up free. I did it just because I felt cleaner, but now I have noticed a significant change since then. I then researched it to prove that I'm not crazy.

According to Medical Daily, sweating opens your pours and releases the build up that is inside them. This could help clear pimples and blemishes and can reduce the chances of them forming in the future. It also detoxifies your body from toxins.

Clearing your body naturally is so beneficial. When using products, your body becomes reliant on them. If you stop using a product you will lose all the progress you have worked so hard to make (:().

What you eat also reflects the state of your skin. Drinking water and avoiding fatty oils can help keep your skin clear, hydrated, and glowing. The more you drink the more you will sweat. It's really just a beautiful cycle.

Quesadillas, can I get any cheesier?

A lifestyle change that can help anyone (not just humanism mindsets in training) is to cook for yourself. It sounds exhausting and expensive, but it's worth it...I pinky promise.

It's important to know what is going into your food and what your food is being cooked with. I guess this could also be super therapeutic. If you have control over your diet and how it is prepared, than you have some control over your life, right?

I made vegetable quesadillas. I prepared this meal to be vegetarian friendly, but it can be changed by simply adding meat to accommodate the meat lovers. I chose this meal because of the carbs and proteins... can it get any better?!

I used whole wheat tortillas because it is a much healthier option. The cheese and vegetables are a great source of protein (it's easy to eat your vegetables when they are covered in cheese :)).

The total for all the ingredients and preparation costs $10-$15 and 10 minutes of your time. I think it's worth it, and after you try them I think you will too.

Spring break has started and so has my mission!

The message my magazine stands for is to create a life for yourself through trial and error to find what works for YOU. It is only appropriate that my magazine is created  that same way.

I follow many accounts on Instagram, go through Pinterest daily, and find blogs that tell me exactly what I need to hear. I am always looking for drinks that are different, yet simple and cheap and easy to prepare. I have seen lemon water recommended by everyone, so I had to try it myself. This is a natural way to detox your body throughout the day. The "humanism" mindset behind this choice is that it is natural. There are many people promoting teas and drinks that are made with chemicals that may help you lose weight, but are not healthy in the long run. It's just you and the Earth.

The purpose of the lemon according to Lauren Conrad, is to keep you energized, it is cleansing, and can help aid in digestion. I tried it and it did exactly that! It helps take away from that bloated feeling. To make it more fun and motivational I put it in fun travel cups, so I can have it with me where ever I go. This is a must to add into your diet and to add into my magazine.
